The second edition of CommonGround, an exhibition organized through the initiative of the Experimental Sculpture Workshop, takes place at Non.Sight and İmalat-hane Project Space in İMÇ, Istanbul. The exhibition takes its name from the idea of equality shared throughout the production process. CommonGround brings together artists working across different subjects and approaches to sculpture, emphasizing the possibility of meeting on the same intellectual and spatial ground.
Since its establishment in 2019, the Experimental Sculpture Studio has organized exhibitions and reading groups, and hosted artist talks and discussions. Moving beyond the boundaries of the academy, the workshop aims to develop its own collective ground for artistic production and exchange.
Initiated in the context of the academic boycott that began in spring 2025, the exhibition brings together students with diverse artistic practices to engage with questions and concerns within contemporary art.
Focusing on contemporary sculptural practices such as the readymade, truth to the material, and installation, the exhibition explores ways of thinking through materials, the physical and conceptual relationships established with space, and the personal experiences that shape the artists’ processes of production.
