The Water Flows Beneath Remains begins with the idea of exposure. It considers how political violence, environmental destruction, displacement, industrial transformation, and memory seep into everyday life, leaving traces on bodies, places, and images.
Moving between personal archives and collective experiences, the works look at polluted waters, forgotten images, industrial sites, protests, and fragmented memories. Together, they ask what remains after contact, pressure, and repetition; what settles into the body after living within systems that continuosly shape, extract, and transform it.
The exhibition is the fifth edition of the Oculus series, which brings together the works of Visual Communication Design students from Kadir Has University. It was developed within
the scope of the VCD428 Curatorship course, led by Doğancan Yılmaz.
